I started making handmade soap in May 2003.
My skin used to get very dry and cracked in wintertime especially after using commercial detergents. I remember the days I used to apply an ointment on all fingers and went to bed with a pair of gloves on! But I had never thought about why it damages my skin.
 
One day I dropped in a bookshop and found a book about handmade soap.
I was surprised to learn that the soap can be made at home!
I got all ingredients and made my soap for the first time. 
My first batch of soap was created in a plastic container using bergamot and peppermint essential oils.
When I used it for the first time, I was absolutely fascinated with a gentle creamy lather and beautiful scent. It cleanses skin without drying, leaving it soft and moisturized. This experience certainly made me think what I had been using for my skin. I have never used commercial soaps again since that day.

Soap making quickly became my hobby. After months of experimentation and failure, I finally was able to produce the soap with my own formulas.
My friends, my family and co-workers enjoyed my soaps and told me that I should sell them at the local market. 
That’s when Chiby soap was born.

My soaps contain vegetable based oil such as olive oil, coconuts oil, palm oil, sweet almond oil and macadamia nuts oil. I only use high-quality essential oils, purified water and plant derived natural colour or clays for colour of soaps.
My soaps are made in small batches of 42 bars at a time, each taking 3~4 weeks to cure to assure quality and freshness.

私が石けんを作り始めたのは2003年の5月でした。
昔から肌があまり丈夫でない私は、冬にきつい洗剤や石けんを使うと、とたんに肌がかさか
さに乾いて、ひびわれていました。
夜寝る前に、指全部に軟膏を塗って手袋をして寝ていたこともありました。そんな目にあっ
ていながらも、どうして肌が荒れるのかについては考えたことがありませんでした。

ある日ふと立ち寄った本屋さんで、手作り石けんの本が目にとまりました。
読んでみるとなんと自分で石けんが作れるとのこと。早速材料を集め、作ってみることにし
ました。
最初の石けんはベルガモットとペパーミントのエッセンシャルオイルを使ったプラスチック
の容器1つ分の石けんでした。
初めて使ってみてクリームのような泡立ちとすばらしい香りにまずうっとり。洗ったあとも
肌がすべすべしてしっとりしているのにびっくりし、一体今まで使っていた洗剤はなんだっ
たのだろうと考えてしまいました。その日から市販の石けんは使わなくなりました。

それから石けん作りに熱中し、いろんなエッセンシャルオイルやハーブを使って試作品作り
に没頭ました。失敗をかさねながらも、だんだん自分の思ったとおりの石けんが作れるよう
になりました。試作品をあげた家族や友達、職場の人達も私の石けんを気に入ってくれ、マ
ーケットで売るようにすすめてくれました。こうしてChiby石けんが誕生したのです。

私の石けんにはオリーブオイル、ココナッツオイル、パームオイル、スイートアーモンドオ
イル、マカダミアナッツオイルなどの植物油に高品質のエッセンシャルオイルと精製水を加
えて作っています。色には植物から抽出した色素やクレイを使用。
新鮮さと品質を保つために、1種類につき42個の石けんを3週間から4週間ねかせてから販
